1. Thornbury Village Craft Cider & Beer
Producing goods right in an apple orchard, it’s no surprise Thornbury has an interesting range of ciders — from Honey Crisp to rose to even elderflower — plus delicious beer.
2. Goldsmith’s Orchard Market + Emerald Grasslands
Find fresh goods grown right on the farm, plus flowers and ice cream. Be sure to stop at the bakery to pick up a pie: it’s their specialty. Plus, there you can buy Emerald Grasslands Grass-Fed Organic Jersey butter. There’s a reason organic, artisanal butter is so sought-after these days — it really enhances the taste of your cooking!
3. Black Angus Fine Meats & Game
This butcher is known for selling wild boar, venison and elk burgers and dry-aged Ontario beef. They also carry imported game, such as kangaroo and crocodile.
4. The Roost Winery & Vineyard
From this hilltop winery, you can catch a stunning view of Georgian Bay. You’ll also discover low-intervention wines that embrace the terroir of this unexpected wine area.
5. Kolapore Springs Cabins & Fish Hatchery
Organic and sustainable, this all-natural Ontario trout hatchery is set in a lush forest. This beautiful location is host to an annual Feast in the Forest event — and the final meal in this episode of 5 Stops.
Discover more local gems — from beers to wines — worth exploring.
