Hanky Panky
Spring 2012
Invented at the American Bar at the Savoy in 1925, this classic cocktail is ideal for bottle ageing—not to mention that you’re sure to score points with your guests once you announce that you’ve got a cocktail ageing in the cellar.
Makes 8 cocktails
12 oz Plymouth Gin (LCBO 5406825) or Victoria Gin (LCBO 118737)
12 oz Cinzano Sweet Vermouth (LCBO 215251, 1 L)
2 oz Fernet Branca (VINTAGES 220145)
GARNISH
1 slice orange rind per drink
1 Combine gin, vermouth and Fernet Branca in an empty 750-mL liquor bottle.
2 Let age in a cool, dark room for 4 to 8 weeks.
3 To serve, measure 3¼ oz aged cocktail into a mixing glass, stir well with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a slice of orange rind and serve.
