“… a wealth of superb wines to explore in [the 2018] crop of new releases from Santa Barbara … one of the most dynamic regions anywhere in the world …” Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, August 7, 2020
The 2018s are only the second vintage from this new Californian project from Burgundy’s Étienne de Montille and Brian Sieve, who have joined forces with Rodolphe Péters from Champagne to craft still and sparkling wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The final piece of the puzzle is renowned Santa Barbara winemaker Justin Willett, owner and winemaker at Tyler Winery and the Loire-inspired Lieu Dit, who oversees winemaking for Racines.
De Montille explored numerous regions in California but was drawn to Santa Barbara County by the cool-climate conditions and the viticultural sweet spot created by the combination of ocean influence and clay and limestone soils.
Racines brings together decades of experience from both sides of the Atlantic. The team unites the techniques and expertise of hundreds of years of Burgundian and Champagne winemaking with the distinct qualities of a New World wine region, and the skill of one of California’s foremost talents, to create wines of finesse and refinement.
The wines from this exciting new project are already in high demand. Don’t delay. Quantities are limited.

Inspired by the great wines of Bordeaux and admonished at first for planting French wine grapes instead of corn, maverick Jayson Pahlmeyer has earned a place in Napa’s fine wine firmament.
He planted his controversial vines in 1981, and by 1986 his peers – including winemaking legend Randy Dunn, who was so impressed he asked to purchase the entire crop – were believers. Since then Pahlmeyer and his wines have continued to set the bar for powerful Napa Valley wines made from classic French grapes.
This offer includes recent releases from the 2016, ’17 and ’18 vintages.
Offer closes August 19, 2021.
Founded in 1906, it’s the oldest winery in Piedmont’s Gattinara zone. Now their newest Nebbiolo expressions are available to Vintages customers.
Founded by Luigi Nervi in 1906, Nervi is the oldest officially recognized winery in Piedmont’s Gattinara appellation. The winery focuses on three bottlings all made from the noble Nebbiolo variety: Gattinara, Gattinara Molsino and Gattinara Valferana. The single-vineyard bottlings contain the best fruit from those vineyards, whereas the third bottling contains the best fruit from Garavoglie and Casacce as well as some wine declassified from Molsino and Valferana. The Gattinara spends a minimum of three years in oak, with the single-vineyard crus spending four years.
This offer features the 2017 vintage of their mainstay Gattinara in standard and large formats, along with the 2016 vintages of their single-vineyard expressions.
Offer closes August 19, 2021.
“If [2018 was] notable for … power and mass, [2019 brings] finesse and elegance to the equation without sacrificing concentration.” Charles Curtis, MW.
The father-and-son team of Henri and Guillaume Boillot oversee production at this iconic domaine, which was established in 1885. Theirs are among the most recognizable, most distinct and most sought-after wines in Burgundy.
The wines of the 2019 vintage are being described as hedonistic, with intense fruit, firm structure, supple texture and outstanding balance. It’s a vintage that provides consumers great confidence for both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
“[The 2019s] are friendly, ripe, open and lush. And thanks to the concentration of the year, they have found their balance … If you love great Burgundy, you should think about securing some 2019s quickly. Given current pricing trends, they will never be cheaper than they are now.” (Charles Curtis, MW, January 18, 2021)
Guillaume Boillot (who is responsible for Henri Boillot’s Pinot Noirs) told Allen Meadows of burghound.com “… if I had to choose one characteristic that really stands out about the 2019s [it] is their impeccable balance. In fact, I would go so far as to say that I have never seen a better-balanced vintage than 2019.” (burghound.com, April 10, 2021)

Father and son Alfredo and Luca Roagna, fourth- and fifth-generation winemakers, craft some of the region’s top Barolo, Barbaresco and more.
Alfredo and Luca Roagna represent the fourth and fifth generations to tend the vines – many of them over half a century old – in their historic vineyard and craft the wines at their family estate in Piedmont. In pursuit of the best expressions of terroir they avoid herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers in the vineyard, ferment using wild yeast, give the wine long ageing time in large oak casks, and bottle without fining or filtration.
This offer includes five expressions of Barbaresco and two of Barolo from the outstanding 2015 vintage, which James Suckling called the best since 2010. These wines are on the cusp of their prime and will show brilliantly for decades to come.

Inimitable wines of indelible focus and refinement, “Jonathan Maltus’s 2019s are superb across the board.” (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, June 2020)
Since 2004, outspoken maverick winemaker Jonathan Maltus has championed single-vineyard expressions from Bordeaux. His big, bold small-batch wines are distinctive, inimitable, highly sought-after takes on Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. Maltus was awarded an OBE in 2016 for his services to wine and winemaking. The late Steven Spurrier said of the award: “[Maltus’s] wines speak for themselves and should also be awarded an OBE – Ordre de Bordeaux Excellence.” (decanter.com, June 15, 2016)
“… I imagine many [consumers] will be drawn to the micro-cuvées, Le Carré, Le Dôme and Les Astéries, in particular, and rightly so. In my view, though, the most impressive wine in the lineup is Teyssier because of its quality at a production level that is very hard to achieve.” (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, June 2020)
