Crushed rocks, savory herbs, dusty rose, dried cherries, hints of blood orange and camphor can all be found as the 2017 Rosso Guardiola aromatical transports the taster to the volcanic slopes of Etna. It's surprisingly juicy and cool-toned in feel, with energizing acidity that counteracts the intense wave of dark red fruits that wash across the palate. A coating of grippy tannins are left to linger, along with a balancing burst of inner sweetness, as the 2017 finishes remarkably long, leaving violet inner florals and mineral tones that resonate for up to a minute.
