LCBO ASKS OPSEU TO AGREE TO APPOINTMENT OF A MEDIATOR

June 17, 2024 – Toronto: The LCBO is currently in collective bargaining with the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) the union representing approximately 10,000 LCBO team members. LCBO is also aware that, on June 13, OPSEU requested a ‘no board’ report from the Ontario Ministry of Labour. Once granted, the ‘no board’ sets a 17-day countdown to OPSEU’s legal strike position.

The LCBO remains committed to achieving a deal at the bargaining table without a strike by employees. We have several bargaining dates this week where we will resume negotiations with a focus on achieving a renewal collective agreement with OPSEU that is fair for our unionized employees and helps the LCBO operate efficiently and effectively for Ontarians in a changing marketplace.

To assist the parties, the LCBO has requested that OPSEU agree to the appointment of a mutually agreed upon third-party mediator to join the parties at bargaining as soon as possible.

LCBO’s formal request to OPSEU can be found at lcbonegotiations.com.
