Product Details
This is the second wine of acclaimed Tuscan producer Ornellaia. The product of an excellent vintage, it is poised and self-possessed, restrained even, before it begins to breathe and bloom, revealing enchanting flavours of plush red plums, blackberries, and dark cherries and notes of tobacco, dried herbs, nutmeg, vanilla, and cloves. I love how concentrated and elegant it is, with a dense, refined, subtly saline palate, supported by fine-grained but firm tannins and balanced acids. The finish is enduring and captivating, ending on a note reminiscent of the essence of violets. One could enjoy this now after some aeration, but I would tuck it away in the cellar for at least 3-4 years, allowing it to develop even more complexity. Tasted November 2023. Score - 95.
