Mulled Wine Mix

This festive gift can be put together on the fly. The only hard part is picking the wine, so go for something dry and full-bodied such as Cabernet Sauvignon or Syrah.

1 clementine
8 whole cloves
1 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
1 bottle of dry red wine

1 Peel 2 long strips of peel from clementine, avoiding the white pith. Place in a bag along with remaining spices.

Heat these ingredients with wine and ¼ cup (60 mL) of honey in a small pot over medium heat. Adjust heat so it’s steaming but not simmering. When steaming, heat until flavours infuse, about 10 minutes.
