Macree
Early Summer 2007
A trip to Amsterdam brings you into an entertainment experience; a city steeped in history, yet bustling with hundreds of slick modern clubs and bars. From restaurants that feed you in bed. To style bars featuring state of the art light and sound, this is a city that never sleeps. De Still Bar features over 150 different whiskies, and regular patrons can reserve their own bottles to enjoy each time they visit. The Macree cocktail is a favourite; named after the Gaelic word Ma Chroi, meaning “My Heart.”
To a cocktail shaker, add 4 raspberries, ¼ oz lemon juice and ¼ oz simple syrup. Muddle or mash with a bar spoon. Fill the shaker with ice and add 1½ oz Irish whiskey, ½ oz Chambord and 1 oz cranberry juice. Shake and strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Garnish with a raspberry and a mint sprig.
