Rooted in winemaking, South Australia is the heart of Australian wine. With its world-famous regions and award-winning estates — from its rugged mountain ranges to its dramatic coastline — this is wine country.

More than half of Australia’s wines are produced here. Its 18 diverse wine regions are renowned for their distinctive wine styles: the Barossa Valley, legendary for its full-flavoured Shiraz as well as standout Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon; Clare Valley, the Riesling capital of Australia; and Coonawarra, famous for its red terra rossa soil and its robust Cabernet Sauvignon. McLaren Vale, the birthplace of South Australian wine — best-loved for its bold Shiraz — is now recognized for its Grand Cru Grenache and has become the home for alternative varieties in the state. Aside from these signature wines, with over 100 varieties grown in South Australia, there’s always something new to discover.
