(from shallow soil on a plateau): Pale yellow. Expressive, sappy aromas of fresh peach and subtle oak spices. Tactile, savory and highly concentrated, but a Pouilly-Fuissé with low body fat, in the style of the vintage. Penetrating chalky minerality currently masks this wine's soildriven richness. Finishes very dry and chewy, with superb grip and length. The yield here was 42 hectoliters per hectare, according to Thibert. This was the first visit of my week in the Mâconnais, but one of my few chances to taste (or retaste) 2014s, a vintage that often goes straight to my third eye. An outstanding vin de terroir.
