The Tawse Cherry Avenue pinot is a ripe and fleshy, supple and almost voluptuous wine, with generous, mouth-filling palate, very satisfying, and abundant but ripe and soft tannins, rendering it highly appealing overall. It shows a little more warmth, heft and roundness than the (also excellent) Quarry Road Pinot, but maintains the chiseled structure and fine detailing that marks so many of winemaker Paul Pender's wine, as well as the evident concentration and genuine depth and density that comes from careful farming. It has been kept tightly under wraps from oxygen and still presents a gently reductive side, a good thing if your intention is to age the wine. As it is, I would tuck in the cellar for another 2-3 years to develop more aromatic amplitude and fine-tune the palate texture. Best 2021-2030. Certified Organic and Biodynamic. Score - 92.
