The 2016 Altazor has a base of cabernet sauvignon from 30-year-old vineyards in Pirque, one of the highest zones in the Maipo Alto. The rest is carménère from Peumo (7%) and carignan from Cauquenes. The wine was harvested early, as is the house philosophy, but this year it also saved the grapes from the heavy rain that fell in the second week of April. The result is a wine with intense Maipo Alto character and a focus on herbs and mentholated notes. A very light and friendly medium-bodied wine that's also very elegant, with an almost ethereal character. Score - 95. (Patricio Tapia, guiadescorchados.cl, 2020)
