Altazor has been produced since 1999, and it has been the responsibility of Undurraga's chief winemaker, Rafael Urrejola, since 2010. He has given it more of a classic Alto Maipo cabernet dimension. This is 92% cabernet from the Pirque zone, a classic area near the foot of the Andes that gives herbs and red fruits in wines that are fresh, but that also that have the depth of Chile's finest reds when they are at their best. And that's the case here. The red fruits, the notes of fresh herbs, the slightly earthy touches, the minty sensation that appears toward the finish - it all leads to the character of a mountain red with that tension and that sensation of cool breezes in an Altazor that we believe is the best to date.
