Deeply coloured. Intensely aromatic and highly complex, once again, in an evolved and open, oxidative, Italianate style, with lots of desiccated fruit flavours. This is anything but fresh and fruity wine, indeed on the contrary, an evolved and leathery, dried fruit expression, with fresh and roasted vegetal character from the 2/3 cabernet component (equal sauv and franc, rounded out by 19% merlot, 11% petit verdot, 6% tannat). But the wash of dense, dark fruit on the palate and the overall intensity of flavour and length are to be admired. There's a uniquely Stratus style that has evolved over the years into the current form, and this is true to type, undeniably quality wine. Drink or better yet hold another 2-4 years, or cellar into the early '30s. Score - 94. (John Szabo, MS, winealign.com, July 30, 2021)
