The 2015 VV (referencing 'Vinhas Velhas,' or old vines) is a field blend from old vines in a single vineyard planted in 1932 in the Cima Corgo subregion. It was aged, depending on lot, in mostly used French barriques for 12 to 15 months. It comes in at 14.5% alcohol. Showing a bit more concentration than its less expensive siblings, this is also better structured. I loved its bright and fresh feel too. The acidity lifts the fruit on the palate. Tightly wound, focused and precise, this is beautifully done, an elegant red with firmness and everything in good balance. The juicy finish is particularly enticing. Drink date: 2019-2035. Score - 93. (Mark Squires, robertparker.com, Aug. 30, 2019)
