Known as negramoll in the Canary Islands, the san francisco grape variety probably came to Chile along with país and moscatel, brought by Spanish Conquistadors. Unlike país, however, it's much more tannic and has a heavy dose of fruit, and it may also lack the variety's earthy side. Winemaker José Ignacio Maturana stumbled upon these grapes while walking through an old país vineyard and decided to vinify them separately. This second vintage follows in the footsteps of the first, offering a wine with ripe tones that's also extremely smooth and light-bodied wine that's simple and easy to drink. Score - 91.
