The 2015 Corralillo Cabernet Sauvignon is made with purchased fruit from Maipo, from the coastal part with colluvial soils, as they wanted to produce a Cabernet Sauvignon to complete their portfolio. But they treat it almost like a Pinot Noir, using uncrushed grapes, a soft vinification and long élevage in well-seasoned barrels. This is the first Cabernet I have tasted from Matetic, which is known for coastal, cool-climate wines, and it is quite impressive. It has some peppery notes, spicy and fresh. It has some 11% Syrah from their vineyard. This wine and a Carmenere are the only two wines that are not from their own grapes. It is serious and textured, with the classical Cabernet tannins. Drink date: 2018-2022. Score - 91. (Luis Gutiérrez, robertparker.com, Oct. 31, 2018)
