This is an atypical Vaucrains in the sense where the extremely pretty nose of black cherry violet and a plentitude of spice elements is not only expressive but perfumed, something that in my experience is highly unusual at this early stage! The palate impression is also somewhat unusual in the texture is gorgeous and relatively supple on though the firm, powerful and imposing finish reminds you that it's still a Vaucrains after all. As it virtually always is, notwithstanding the refinement, this is very much built-to-age and a wine that's going to need it. Excellent. Drink: 2034+. Outstanding. Score - 91-94.
