There is always great expectation these days from Ontario cabernet franc and yet still a rare thing to see one walk through the magic door. Lundy's is an 80 per cent Foxcroft meets (20) Edgerock Vineyard joint. The fruit brotherhood saw 18 months is 50 per cent new wood and I will be honest that such a soaking can cause me to think 'I feel weary in the weight of these days.' But no. The integration is seamless in a lightly touched cabernet franc, shining 'like chrome with snow white angel wings.' It's bluesy, folksy and funky with great playing and polish. The barrel is never on your mind, or your palate. It's a red fruit rosy, holy rosary, ripe acids ripping franc. This is just exceptional work from winemakers Adam Kern and Chris Robinson, one on keyboards and the other on lead vocals. Drink it someday past the sunset. Drink date: 2019-2023. Score - 91.
