This is the first version of LFE's most ambitious cabernet. It's from a selection of high-altitude vineyards planted on hills in Puquillay, 900 meters above sea level in 2005. The idea, according to winemaker Nicolás Bizzarri, was to try to prove that it was possible to make a Colchagua cabernet that rivals the best in Chile. And that's what they've done. The wine was aged in barrels for 18 months and then spent another 2 years in the bottle. It's a cabernet that's focused on fruit flavors. Unlike other top Chilean cabernets, it doesn't have the mentholated notes (like some from Maipo Alto) but instead concentrates on the fruity and earthy flavors in a wine that has medium body but tremendous structure. Its tannins latch on to the palate and easily hold up all of those fruit flavors. Score - 96. (Descorchados, 2020)
