Granted its own AC in 1988, Maranges wine is produced in the communes of Cheilly-lès-Maranges, Dezize-lès-Maranges and Sampigny-lès-Maranges in Côte de Beaune. Fruit for this one was harvested by hand from old vines near the village of Dezize-lès-Maranges and destemmed prior to fermentation, and the wine was matured in Burgundian oak, 40% of it new, for 10 months. Expect an elegant, fruit- and floral-forward wine with subtle smoky spice.
