This wine's name is a nod to the volcanic eruptions and rogue 300-foot waves that shaped the Columbia Valley some 16,000 years ago. The wine itself, a blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Tempranillo, is jovial and juicy, with suggestions of ripe raspberry, vanilla, mineral and underbrush. It'll be the opposite of a disaster with steak. (Vintages panel, Nov. 2019)
