The 2018 Cota 500 Syrah was produced with fruit from Cachapoal, from vines planted 20 years ago on colluvial soils rich in red clay. It fermented with 10% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in fourth and fifth use French barriques for 11 months. It has a creamy and tender personality and bright red fruit, quite different from a Syrah from the Northern Rhône, but with a twist of cracked black peppercorns. The palate is juicy and approachable, with round tannins and tasty flavors. Drink date: 2020-2025. Score - 91. (Luis Gutiérrez, robertparker.com, Feb. 28, 2020)
