Lemon Tree
Early Summer 2009
While the most common sweetener to add to lemons is sugar, there are other sweeteners that can turn tart lemons into sweet sippers. We experimented, using a local Canadian ingredient (maple syrup), and created a new favourite.
To a rocks glass, add 1⁄2 lemon washed and chopped, 1⁄4 orange washed and chopped, and 1 oz maple syrup. Mash or muddle to extract the juices. Fill the glass with ice and add 2 oz Canadian whisky. Stir well to mix and garnish with a mint sprig.
