Kir Sangria

Kir Sangria

Autumn 2012

By: Michelle P. E. Hunt and Laura Panter

The ubiquitous kir, combining cassis and white wine, was created in France in 1945. Our updated version is a subtle variation that brings together the wonderful sweetness of cassis with citrus notes and dry white wine.

Makes approx. 8 drinks

To a pitcher, add 1 cup cassis, 3 cups white wine, ½ cup lemon juice, 1 cup white cranberry juice, 1 whole lemon, lime and orange, sliced in rounds and ½ cup chopped seedless grapes. Before serving, add 1 cup club soda. Stir and serve in wine glasses with ice, distributing the fruit evenly.
