The 2015 Reserva is all Syrah but for 4% co-fermented Viognier, all aged for 16 to 20 months (depending on the specific plot of Syrah) in 40% new French oak. When first seen, this looked formidable. Its parts are far better integrated now, but it is still not really ready. Smooth and luscious, and adding several layers of concentration to the regular Tinto this issue, this controls the Syrah funk. That allows the blueberries to stand front and center, in a dry and serious way, of course. The tannins still make this a bit tight, but they seem riper now - it was pretty hard-edged last year - so it won't be unapproachable now. It could still use some cellar time. This is at once sexy and nuanced, complex and fruity. The most impressive part is how graceful it is all the while. This is beautifully crafted, leaning just a little to the intellectual side, at least today. It looks like a great Reserva, still on the upswing with a long life ahead, probably more than indicated. Drink date: 2020-2040. Score - 94. (Mark Squires, robertparker.com, Aug. 30, 2019)
