This wine comes from south-facing slopes in the foothills of the Piketberg Mountains, from mostly terra rossa soils that have a high quantity of shale, which provides superb drainage. The bush vine Grenache comes from the highest plots, while the Shiraz, Mourvèdre and the small percentage of the white grape Verdelho come from trellised vines at lower elevations.
