Showing better than it did last year during my visit, the first bottling of the 2016 Gigondas was scheduled for July. Like so many of the 2016s from Gigondas, it has that something extra. It pops on the nose, offering pretty cherry and raspberry fruit. Full-bodied and creamy textured, it conceals any alcoholic warmth, offering great texture and length and an almost briny finish.
