An organic merlot, cabernet franc, malbec and local abourriou blend, this is fragrant and ripe wine from the deep Southwest of France (not far from Bordeaux but inland), with an appealingly rustic, savoury edge but also skilled winemaking in evidence, clean and pure. Tannins are still a little rough-and-tumble, so another 1-2 years in the cellar is recommended, or decant and serve with salty protein. Length and depth are solid. Worth discovering. Score - 90.
