Aventinus was introduced in 1907 by Mathilde Schneider, wife of Georg Schneider III. It is named for Johannes Aventinus, the first historian to describe Bavaria. Aventinus is traditionally bottle fermented, unpasteurized and unfiltered with a pure top-fermenting yeast. Deep, tawny in colour, sparkling in texture, and complex in flavour, Aventinus is the oldest Bavarian Wheat-Doppelbock.
