Bacalhôa Moscatel de Setúbal 2016

750 mL bottle  |   VINTAGES#:  996181

The 2016 Moscatel de Setúbal was aged in used French oak for 20 months. Bottled in November 2018 with a screwcap, it comes in with 140 grams of residual sugar and 17% alcohol. This might be released as an older wine at a later date, but future releases will have appropriate age indications (so I'm told), whereas this is just two years old. Spicy and tangy, this is tightly wound and a great value. Intense and long on the finish, it finishes relatively dry and stern in perception. This is nicely done - it has its limitations at a young age, but it is a nice peek into what these can be at a bargain price. The price references a full bottle too. Drink date: 2019-2025. Score - 88. (Mark Squires,, Aug. 30, 2019)
