El Esteco Altimus 2015

750 mL bottle  |   VINTAGES#:  11974

El Esteco winemaker Alejandro Pepa has more than 500 hectares in the Calchaquíes Valleys in northern Argentina at his disposal for making his wines. Altimus - by its very definition - is the greatest expression of his vines, a summation of the very best. With a predominance of malbec, plus cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc, this may be the freshest, liveliest version to date. It has a core of ripe red fruits and firm acidity to refresh all those flavors even more. The texture has good tannins - and those tannins have grip. Give it a couple more years in the bottle, and then open it with a richly flavored stew, like ox tail. Score - 95. (guiadescorchados.cl, 2019)
