Pink Sangria with Winter Fruits

Pink Sangria with Winter Fruits

Holiday 2003

By: Dana Speers

Pomegranate molasses is available at Middle Eastern grocery stores but feel free to substitute grenadine syrup instead. Any winter fruit would be good here: try pear chunks, kumquat slices or grapefruit segments.

Serves 12

Six 750 mL bottles of chilled dry rosé wine
6 cups (1.5 L) freshly squeezed orange juice
1/2 cup (125 mL) lime juice
2 tsp (10 mL) pomegranate molasses
4 oranges, thinly sliced
4 limes, thinly sliced
Seeds of 4 pomegranates
8 cups (2 L) chilled sparkling apple cider

1. In a large punch bowl, combine wine, orange juice, lime juice and pomegranate molasses. Add orange slices, lime slices, pomegranate seeds and apple cider. Let steep in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

2. Add ice ring to punch bowl and serve.
