Pear Buttered Rum

This twist on a classic Buttered Rum cocktail boasts all the flavour of the original but with lovely pear taste, and it’s incredibly easy to prepare.
Makes 4 drinks
3 cups (750 mL) pear juice or nectar
1 cinnamon stick
4 whole cloves
1 tsp (5 mL) honey
8 oz Kraken Black Spiced rum(LCBO 225698)
1 to 2 tsp (5 to 10 mL) cold butter, cut into tiny cubes
4 cinnamon sticks, for garnishing (optional)
1 To prepare mulled pear juice, pour pear juice into a large saucepan. Add cinnamon stick and cloves. Set over medium heat. Heat until steaming but not boiling. If making ahead, mulled pear juice can be very gently simmered on stove until ready to use for up to an hour or 2. Taste and remove cinnamon stick and cloves if flavour begins to become too strong. Dilute with a bit of water if needed.
2 Set out 4 heatproof mugs. Just before serving, add ¼ tsp (1 mL) honey into each glass. Divide and pour in mulled pear juice. Pour 2 oz rum into each glass. Top each with a little butter. Stir and garnish with cinnamon sticks if you like. Serve immediately.
