The It in this classic cocktail is an abbreviation of Italian Vermouth, a way of distinguishing the drink from a Gin and French, made with French vermouth.
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add 2 oz gin and 1 oz sweet red vermouth. Stir until chilled and strain into a cocktail glass with ice. Garnish with a lemon twist.
