Thick batons of watermelon, pineapple and jicama, dipped in lime and spice, are the Mexico City street food version of salad. There, they are served in little plastic bags, but feel free to serve them in colourful cups. Tajin is a unique spice chili-lime blend available at many No Frills, Fiesta Farms and specialty food shops.

½ small seedless watermelon, flesh cut into batons 3 inches (8 cm) long x ½ inch (1 cm) thick
