Frozen Grapefruit Daiquiri
Summer 2003
Ernest Hemingway, patron saint of all Daiquiri drinkers, was known to order a frozen version of his favourite cocktail when temperatures soared in Havana.
A purist, he would not have approved of banana, strawberry or mango Daiquiris, but he did, on occasion, call for a squeeze of grapefruit juice to perk up the lime.
Makes 2 cocktails
2 oz white rum
1 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
2 tbsp freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
1 tsp sugar
1 cup crushed ice
1. Place ingredients in a blender and blend in short bursts until desired consistency is reached.
2. Pour into glasses. Garnish with a slice of lime.
