Canadian Cherry

To a rocks glass, add 6 to 8 fresh cherries, pitted and chopped, a pinch of ground black pepper and 1⁄4 oz maple syrup. Muddle well. Fill the glass with crushed ice and add 2 oz Canadian whisky. Stir well to mix, and garnish with a long orange twist.
