(malo in large French oak barrels; aged for 14 months in French oak barriques, 40% of them new) Youthful violet color. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes oak-spiced dark berries, cola, vanilla and incense, along with a smoky mineral topnote. Sappy, plush and seamless in the mouth, offering concentrated blackberry, boysenberry, mocha and spicecake flavors that spread out steadily on the back half. The impressively long, spice-tinged finish displays pliant tannins, excellent clarity and a suave touch of candied flowers. Drink date: 2022-2032. Score - 93. (Josh Raynolds, vinous.com, Feb. 2019)
