Whereas the wines of neighbouring Barbera d'Alba are known for their fruit-forward intensity, those of Barbera d'Asti are appreciated for their delicate floral character, which nicely complements the Barbera grape's inherent tangy-cherry flavour. This wine underwent malolactic conversion and spent 16 months mellowing first in stainless steel tanks and then in bottles before release. It'll make a lovely accompaniment to tomato risotto.
