DIY Gin & Tonic

DIY Gin & Tonic

MAY 2023

By: Christine Sismondo

Customize this easy, breezy cocktail to your liking by using traditional London dry gin or a flavoured one and by loading it up with your favourite garnishes. This will add lots of fresh flavours and aromas. If you’re looking for a lighter cocktail, use a smaller amount of gin as well as a mix of tonic and soda water [instead of straight tonic].

Makes 1 cocktail

1 to 1 ½ oz gin
4 to 5 oz tonic water or a mix of tonic and soda waters
Sprig of rosemary, mint or lavender for garnish
Slice or wheel of citrus such as grapefruit, lime or lemon for garnish
Slice or ribbon of cucumber for garnish
Black peppercorns or dried juniper berries for garnish (optional)

Add 1 to 1 ½ oz gin to a highball or Copa glass filled with lots of ice. Top with tonic water or tonic-soda mix. Garnish with fresh herb sprig, citrus, cucumber, and peppercorns or juniper berries.

Makes 1 cocktail
