The 2018 Branco Reserva is a blend of 30% Malvasia Fina, 30% Rabigato, 20% Viosinho and 20% Gouveio. About 30% of the juice was fermented and aged for six months in new French barriques, the rest in stainless steel. It comes in at 13.5% alcohol. This has appealing purity to go with fine concentration and hints of spice and flint. There's a lot of power here. In its youth, this is a touch disjointed right now, but it seems likely to come together well. It's worth leaning up again. The question this year is whether this has a higher upside than normal - I suspect not, but it certainly has some potential. Drink date: 2020-2027. Score - 90.
