From a super high-density parcel of vines, 12,000 per hectare planted in 1998, harvested rather early in the last week of August and also very ripe and 14% alcohol declared, it was subsequently aged in 40% new barrels. The net result is a bold and structured wine, billowing with dark cherry fruit, palate coating, voluptuous and mouth filling. Abundant tannins are fully enveloped in fruit; extract and length is excellent. This needs another 3-5 years minimum before engaging, and even better, hold into the early or mid '30s for a more evolved and complete expression.
