Cloudsley Cellars Twenty Mile Bench Pinot Noir 2018

... Winemaker Adam Lowy produces a total of 400 cases of single-vineyard pinot noirs across four labels; Glen Elgin, Parke, Hanck and Cuesta. He also makes this Twenty Mile Bench cuvée, a blend of sites, a 'Villages' interpretive interoperation if you will. Yet there is nothing general or ambiguous about it, in fact the 20-something or 20-somewhereness about Lowy's amalgam is so apropos to place. The layering of fruit brings substantial grounding, weight and warmth to this sumptuous 2018. The alcohol is moderate, as is the tonality level, but accessibility is both immediate and inviting. The grapes used here do not hold any true grit and like the sea, refuse no river. When pinot noir flows as it does in this Twenty Miler it does so with swift current and ease. Drink 2021-2024.
