There are old vines from the Eastern Block and then there are more ubiquitous old vines, which incidentally happen to be as old as those other old vines. Kind of like a who's who and yeah, meet the new boss, same as the old boss, but I digress and won't be fooled again. No it's true, because outside of that Old Eastern Block there is a difference in that a gentle slope at the base of the Escarpment and a slight variation in soil brings about darker fruit, more base mineral notes and truly tangible flavours. You can put your finger on the fruits but also the way structure is formed. Yes it's crunchy in its freshness but also a pinot noir that glides across the palate. Feels like this Lowrey will be more immediately attractive and offer gratification without needing years to open up. Drink this at least one if not two years sooner than the other. Drink 2024-2031.
