Savoury cocktails & ice cream

Move over sweet sippers and treats! Salty, herbaceous, vegetal and even spicy drinks and desserts are taking over. Give this trend a whirl by whipping up a batch of goat cheese ice cream or try this surprisingly delightful carrot juice cocktail

""

Global street food

In Ontario, search trends show that the ever-expanding list of take-out options has exploded (espeically in the last couple of years). We will continue to see places offering international street foods like birria tacos and Korean hot dogs. Look for recieps that take inspiration from street foods like this 'bowl' version of a Vietnamese-style sandwich.

Colourful foods

It's easy to see the fresh, vibrant and Instagram-worthy appeal of brightly coloured foods. In the coming year, keep your eyes peeled for a rainbow of hues from foods like moringa, matcha, turmeric, pea flower powder and ube. Special mention goes to hibiscus-infused recipes like this punch with pink ice cubes

Elevated cooking techniques

With a little more time at the homestead, home cooks have had incentive to expand their repertoire and try their hand at new methods like dry brining, reverse searing and smoked foods and cocktails

""

Natural fermentation

Riding on sour dough's coat tails, look for other naturally fermented options like tangy and funky natural wines, pet nats, kombucha cocktails and wild fermented food and beverages.
