LCBO TO HOST OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF TORONTO BEER WEEK
September 15, 2016
LCBO is the place to be to celebrate craft beer and kick off the 7th Annual Toronto Beer Week. Join Toronto Mayor John Tory and local craft brewers to toast the launch of this event on Friday, September 16, 2016 starting at 4:30 p.m. at LCBO’s Summerhill location, at 10 Scrivener Square in Toronto.
Friday also marks the first pour of this year’s official Toronto Beer Week brew, created by the team at Indie Ale House. The limited-edition Interloper is a barrel-aged modern take on the farmhouse saison. This exclusive product can be purchased by the bottle at select LCBO retail stores in the Toronto area, while quantities last.
Three additional Indie Ale House beers will also be available as part of the brewpub’s tap takeover of the Summerhill Growler Stop. Available fresh from the tap will be Instigator IPA, Breakfast Porter and Down by the Bay, a sour watermelon wheat beer.
Ontario craft beer has gone from strength to strength in recent years and LCBO is proud of its role in growing awareness and sales. Since first being introduced to the market in 1984, locally brewed, small batch beer has steadily gained popularity and market share to become one of LCBO’s fastest-growing product categories. In fiscal 2015-16, LCBO sales of local craft beer were $69 million, up more than 35 per cent over the previous year.
