LCBO LAUNCHES #MYRETURNSTYLE SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN
January 4, 2016
The LCBO wants to know – what’s your return style? Starting today, LCBO will be launching a seven-day social media campaign to promote awareness of the Ontario Deposit Return Program and encourage beverage alcohol container returns to the Beer Store during the post-holiday clean-up.
Each day, a new cartoon character will be released on @LCBO, @LCBONews and LCBO Facebook that highlights different entertaining styles, as well as the various environmental and financial benefits of bringing your empties back. LCBO customers are encouraged to self-identify with the personalities and to retweet, repost and share using the hashtags #myreturnstyle #bagitback #LCBO.
The Ontario Deposit Return program diverts beverage alcohol bottles, cans and containers from landfills to a recycling facility where they are cleaned, colour-separated and put to high-end use. Large and small glass bottles, PET plastic, Tetra Pak cartons, bag-in-box and cans can all be returned to the Beer Store for a full deposit refund.
Through the LCBO’s funding of the Ontario Deposit Return Program (ODRP) and municipal curbside Blue Box programs, we are ensuring that more than 93 per cent of the bottles and cans we generate are recycled and kept away from landfill.
Since the start of the ODRP program in 2007, more than 2.5 billion containers have been sorted for optimum recycling use and diverted from landfill.
