LCBO OPENS RELOCATED, EXPANDED GRAND BEND STORE
December 1, 2015
Toasting with Ontario sparkling wine and Ontario craft beer, the LCBO today officially opened its relocated Grand Bend store at 49 Main Street East, building A.
Joining LCBO President & CEO Bob Peter, Senior Vice-President of Retail Operations Bob Clevely, Western Regional Director Michael O’Reilly and LCBO District Manager Mike Warnock for the opening were Mayor Bill Weber, Councillor Dan Sageman, Councillor Dave Maguire, Children’s Health Foundation (London) Community Relations Advisor Jennifer Baxter and MADD Canada Huron/Bruce Board Member Sandra Lee.
The expanded 8,000 square-foot store has a selection of about 1,800 wines, spirits, beers, ready-to-drink cocktails, beverage gift packs, and up to 100 VINTAGES premium wines and spirits. Among the store’s many features is a large Ontario wine section at the front of the store with about 300 Ontario wines, including some 160 VQA wines.
It also features a walk-in beer cold room, which is chilled by outside air for much of the year. This provides significant environmental benefits and reduces utility use and costs. There is also a chilled wine section complete with energy-saving ‘dairy doors.’
As part of LCBO’s commitment to promoting the responsible sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages, LCBO retail staff challenged in fiscal 2014-15 more than 13.5 million people who appeared underage, intoxicated or were suspected of purchasing for a minor or an intoxicated person. More than 439,000 individuals were refused service; 88 per cent for reasons of age.
Hours of operation are Monday to Wednesday10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“LCBO is pleased to celebrate with our customers the reopening of our Grand Bend store on Main Street E. This upgraded store with its expanded product selection and services provides one-stop beverage alcohol shopping for area residents and visitors,” said Bob Peter, LCBO President & CEO. “Expanded stores like this increase customer satisfaction and have helped LCBO deliver 21 consecutive years of increasing dividend transfers to the province, including a $1.805 billion dividend for fiscal 2014-15.”
