LCBO OPENS NEW AURORA STORE FEATURING OUR WINE COUNTRY ONTARIO DESTINATION BOUTIQUE
March 9, 2015
Toasting with Ontario sparkling wine and Ontario craft beer, the LCBO today officially opened its newest store at 94 First Commerce Drive in Aurora. This new store will be home to one of LCBO’s Our Wine Country Ontario destination boutiques, featuring a unique selection of more than 400 Ontario VQA wines, including hard-to-find, niche and ultra-premium products.
Located inside select full-size LCBO stores, Our Wine Country Ontario destination boutiques have the look and feel of a trip to wine country. They raise the profile of Ontario wine, offer customers a unique Ontario wine shopping experience, make it easier to discover and learn about the exceptional products produced here at home, and support Ontario winery sales. Three World of Ontario Wine (WOW) leaders – specialists in Ontario wine – are available to assist customers, providing recommendations and education about Ontario’s wine regions.
This 12,167 square-foot store also has a selection of more than 2,000 wines, spirits, beers, ready-to-drink cocktails, coolers and beverage gift packs, and up to 575 VINTAGES premium wines and spirits.
Joining LCBO President & CEO Bob Peter for the opening were His Worship, Geoffrey Dawe, Mayor of Aurora, and Adriana Suppa, Director of Communications for the United Way York Region.
As part of LCBO’s commitment to promoting the responsible sale and consumption of alcohol beverages, LCBO retail staff challenged in fiscal 2013-14 more than 11.4 million people who appeared underage, intoxicated or were suspected of purchasing for a minor or an intoxicated person. More than 414,600 individuals were refused service; 86.9 per cent for reasons of age.
